Incentives can do more than just attract businesses. In Louisiana, commercialization assistance and tax incentives are giving bioscience companies the breaks they need to firmly establish themselves and grow. Below, you’ll find information on the many opportunities Louisiana offers for building bioscience.
Commercialization Assistance
The Louisiana Business & Technology Center has over a decade of experience with the SBIR/STTR Programs by assisting Louisiana companies in searching for appropriate solicitations, providing detailed information about the requirements and the process of submitting a proposal, and conducting training workshops to assist companies with SBIR/STTR.
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
The Federal SBIR program funds approximately $2.3 Billion annually for early stage research and development efforts of a high-risk nature that may have excellent commercial potential. The SBIR program, established in 1982, provides an exceptional opportunity for any innovator who is capable of conducting high quality research and development.
Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR)
A companion program to SBIR, the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program is similar but requires a university or not-for-profit research institution partner.
Tax Incentives
Research & Development Tax Credit
The Research & Development Tax Credit encourages existing businesses with operating facilities in Louisiana to establish or continue research and development activities within the state.
